China added a silver in the men's 5,000-meter relay on the last day of the 2024/25 ISU Short Track Speed Skating World Tour's first leg in Montreal on Sunday.

China finished the leg with one silver and one bronze.

In the men's 5,000m relay, despite China's strong performance in the second half - featuring Lin Xiaojun, Liu Shaoang, Liu Shaolin, and Sun Long - Canada managed to defend its early lead, crossing the finish line first with a time of six minutes and 49.814 seconds. China finished second in 6:50.641, while the Netherlands took third with 6:50.774.

Dutch star Xandra Velzeboer maintained her dominance from Saturday's 1,000m victory, adding another gold in the women's 500m. Kristen Santos of the United States and Belgium's Hanne Desmet took silver and bronze, respectively, while China's Wang Ye finished third in final B.

Velzeboer's achievements didn't end there, as she helped her team clock 2:37.874 to win the mixed relay, followed by South Korea (2:38.031) and Canada (2:47.875). China did not advance to final A, ultimately finishing second in final B with a time of 2:40.261.

Also on Sunday, South Korea's Kim Gil-li claimed the women's 1,500m title, while China's Gong Li finished sixth. Dutch skater Jens van't Wout won the men's 1,000m, with China's Lin advancing to final B.

The next World Tour stop, scheduled for November 1 to 3, and the ISU Four Continents Short Track Championships (November 8-9) in Salt Lake City have been relocated to Montreal due to supply chain delays. US Speedskating and the Utah Olympic Oval informed the ISU that the new padding system would not arrive in time.
