Sweden's Johan Kristoffersson secured his seventh world title as the World Rallycross Championship concluded in Türkiye's largest city, Istanbul, on Sunday.

The qualifying races for the championship, organized by the International Automobile Federation (FIA), took place on Saturday at Istanbul Park.

Kristoffersson, leader of the drivers' standings for the KMS-HORSE Powertrain team, finished second in the first qualifying race and claimed first place in the second qualifying race.

With the points he collected, Kristoffersson secured victory as the World Rallycross champion on Saturday.

"It was a lot of fun. We were part of many incredible battles," Kristoffersson said after the race, as quoted by the online sports news portal Motorsport. "It's been an amazing year, and it will take some time to fully absorb it. Seven world championships ... unbelievable!"

The winner of Sunday's final round of the championship was Juha Rytkonen of Finland, with Kristoffersson and Timmy Hansen of Sweden finishing second and third, respectively.

The championship was described by the local press as the "Battle of Technologies," pitting electric vehicles against gasoline-powered cars.

In the challenging conditions of a rain-soaked track, the drivers' fierce battles and drifting displays were followed with excitement by the spectators in the stands.
