The Namibia Football Association (NFA) announced Wednesday that FIFA has imposed a transfer ban on Namibia's Orlando Pirates football club, effective January 31, 2024.

The ban, which results from unpaid dues to former player Aaron Yaw Ladakpa, prevents the club from registering new players, both domestically and internationally.

According to the NFA, Ladakpa filed a complaint with FIFA over unpaid remuneration following a wrongful contract termination.

"The maximum duration of the ban is three consecutive registration periods," the NFA said, adding that the ban will be lifted once Orlando Pirates settles the full amount owed to Ladakpa, in accordance with a ruling by the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber.

"The NFA urges all clubs to adhere to FIFA regulations and ensure timely payment of player contracts to avoid similar sanctions," the NFA concluded.

This marks the second time this year that a Namibian club has faced such a penalty, following African Football Club's similar ban for breaching contract terms with a Ghanaian player.

Namibia's domestic league, the Debmarine Namibia Premiership, will begin its 2024-25 season on November 29.
