Former Brazil international striker Leandro Damiao has expressed a wish to return to Internacional as he seeks to retire at the club that launched his career.

The 35-year-old is a free agent after parting ways with Brazilian Serie B outfit Coritiba earlier this month and he has already declined proposals from other clubs.

"I only want to play at Internacional," Damiao said. "I try not to listen to the other offers I've had. I already told the president [Alessandro Barcellos] that my desire is to return to Inter.

Damiao scored 106 goals in 226 appearances for Internacional before earning a high-profile move to Brazilian Serie A rival Santos in 2014. He has since had spells at Real Betis, Flamengo and Kawasaki Frontale, among other clubs.

A central forward who is renowned for his dribbling skills and heading ability, Damiao has been capped 17 times for Brazil's national team, scoring three goals.
