Former Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro was appointed head coach of Dinamo Zagreb on Sunday, after the Croatian side sacked Nenad Bjelica.
Deemed one of the best defenders in history, Cannavaro led the Azzurri to the 2006 FIFA World Cup title. After hanging up his boots in 2011, Cannavaro began coaching in 2013, with spells in charge of Chinese sides Guangzhou Evergrande and Tianjin Quanjian, as well as a brief period in charge of China's national team.
Dinamo Zagreb currently ranks third in the Croatian Football League after 18 matches. The 51-year-old faces a daunting debut, with his first match away at Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League on January 22.
