England midfielder Dele Alli has joined Italian Serie A side Como as a free agent, the club confirmed on Sunday.
"Como 1907 has officially announced the signing of England international Dele Alli on an 18-month contract, with an option to extend for an additional 12 months. The club recognizes his exceptional talent and is excited to bring him into the team," the club said in a statement.
The 28-year-old had been a revelation when he played for Tottenham Hotspur and also has earned 37 caps for England.
However, after his spells at Everton and Besiktas, Alli slowly faded out of the picture due to injuries and off-field issues, and had been without a club since his contract with Besiktas expired last summer.
Alli has been training with Como since last December, and his performance eventually earned him an opportunity to play in the peninsula.
Head coach Cesc Fabregas shared his thoughts on the signing: "The club believes in Dele's potential and is committed to helping him rediscover his best form. His experience and leadership qualities will undoubtedly benefit the squad."
It is believed that Alli can be included in Como's squad for the home Serie A against Udinese on Monday.
