Alan Rodriguez and Tomas Molina scored second-half goals as Argentinos Juniors continued its impressive start to Argentina's Primera Division Apertura season with a 2-0 home win over Instituto Cordoba on Sunday.

Rodriguez broke the deadlock just before the hour by rifling a long-range effort into the top-left corner, and Molina doubled the advantage when he rounded the goalkeeper before firing into an unguarded net 16 minutes from time.

"It was an important victory for the team," Rodriguez told reporters after the match. "We worked on a few things during the week and today we were a lot calmer. We didn't drop our heads at any stage and we got our reward. Now the challenge is to stay consistent."

The result leaves Argentinos Juniors third in the 15-team Group A standings with 18 points from eight outings, behind Estudiantes and Tigre on goal difference. Instituto is 10th in Group B with seven points so far.

Elsewhere, Lanus drew 1-1 at Independiente, and Huracan eased to a 2-0 away win over Velez Sarsfield.
