Bukayo Saka celebrated his return from injury with a goal as Arsenal closed Liverpool's lead at the top of the Premier League to nine points on Tuesday with a 2-1 win at home to Fulham.

Saka got into the game as a 66th-minute substitute and needed just seven minutes to remind fans of his quality with a goal that put Arsenal ahead 2-0.

Mikel Merino opened the scoring in the 37th minute after a team move ended with the Spaniard scoring with a tap-in on a pass from Ethan Nwaneri.

The bad news for Arsenal was that it lost defender Gabriel with a muscle injury that will make him a big doubt for its UEFA Champions League tie against Real Madrid.

Saka capped his return from a long injury layoff with his side's second goal of the night.

The three points looked certain to stay in north London, but Rodrigo Muniz netted in the 94th minute for Fulham to give Arsenal a nervous last couple of minutes.

Liverpool plays at home to Everton in what promises to be a close derby on Wednesday.

Nottingham Forest continued its magnificent season, following its qualification for the semifinal of the FA Cup with a 1-0 win at home to Manchester United.

Former Manchester United player Anthony Elanga scored the only goal of the game in the fifth minute after a pass from Ryan Yates to finish off a counter-attack.

United had the better chances in the rest of the game but never really gave the sensation of being able to overturn the result, and even used central defender Harry Maguire as a late substitute in attack.

Jorgen Strand Larsen netted a 21st-minute goal that took a big deflection off defender Maximilian Kilman to give Wolverhampton Wanderers a 1-0 win at home to West Ham to put the club 12 points ahead of the relegation zone, where Leicester City and Ipswich both face difficult away games on Wednesday.
