Colombian striker Miguel Borja struck in the 87th minute as River Plate salvaged a 1-1 home draw with Talleres Cordoba in Argentina's Primera Division Apertura tournament on Sunday.

Valentin Depietri opened the scoring for the visitor with a calm finish from 16 yards after running more than half the length of the pitch on the counterattack.

Borja equalized when he latched onto Gonzalo Montiel's cross with a glancing header into the far corner.

The result at Estadio Monumental leaves River Plate fourth in the 15-team Group B standings with 22 points, nine ahead of ninth-placed Talleres.

Elsewhere in Argentina's top-flight on Sunday, Gimnasia was held to a 1-1 home draw by Estudiantes, Instituto prevailed 3-0 at home to Deportivo Riestra, and Independiente won 2-0 at home to San Martin.
