Veteran Chinese skater Wang Manli has finished second in overall
standings at the world sprint speed skating championships in
Holland.
Wang, who finished second in the 500 meter and fourth in the
1,000-meter races, has won a total of 154.200 points, .575-points
lower than Russia's Svetlan Zhurova.
34-year-old Zhurova has led after the opening two races and
capped a sterling weekend with two distance victories to win the
women's title.
Zhurova has beaten Wang in two head-to-head races to make the
difference. She won the 500 in 38.28, .09 seconds ahead of her
opponent. Japan's Sayuri Osuga has taken third place.
China's Ren Hui and Wang Beixing finished 5th and 6th.
The men's world sprint title has gone to Joey Cheek of the
US.
