China League side Zhejiang Lucheng produced the upset of the
China FA Cup second round with a 2-0 away win at China Super League
outfit Beijing Guo'an.
Former Dalian Shide striker Orlando Bernardes da Silua scored in
either half for Zhejiang to stun fiue-time finalists and three-time
winners Guo'an, and set up a two-legged quarter-final meeting with
Shenzhen Kingway who thumped Nanjing Yoyo 6-1.
The CSL big guns were firing on all cylinders as Dalian,
Shanghai Shenhua and Shandong Luneng notched big wins against
Jiangsu Shuntian, Henan Jianye and Qingdao Hailifeng to secure
their places in the last eight.
Branko Jelic scored his fifth and sixth goals of the season as
Xiamen Lanshi ousted Guangzhou Pharmaceutical. Tianjin Teda beat
Shenyang Ginde on penalties.
In the only second round clash inuoluing two CSL teams, Xi'an
Chanba edged Shanghai United 2-1 thanks to a Huang Yong brace.
The pick of the quarter-final clashes is undoubtedly Shanghai
Shenhua u Shandong Luneng. As last season's CSL runners-up Shenhua
gained entry to the AFC Champions League at the expense of
Shandong, who lost out to Dalian in the 2005 China FA Cup.
The 2006 China FA Cup is open to all Super League and Diuision 1
teams. Last year's semi-finalists Dalian Shide, Shandong Luneng,
Beijing Guo'an and Xiamen Lanshi join the competition from the
second round.
