China's Peng Shuai brushed aside Elena Vesina of Russia 6-2, 6-2 to reach the second round of the French Open on Monday.

The 20-year-old Peng, who reached here first ever WTA Tour race final in Strasbourg last week, proved too strong for her Russian opponent with powerful groundstrokes and blistering serves.

She wrapped up victory in one hour and 16 minutes to set up a second round clash with Croatia's Karolina Sprem, who advanced at the expense of Russian 18th seed Elena Likhovtseva.
