Chinese young strongman Su Dajin beat Mikalai Charniak of
Belarus by one kilogram as he lifted a total of 349kg in the Junior
Weightlifting World Championships.
Su, who has never been in the international competition before,
snatched 157kg as same as Charniak but placed second in the snatch
due to the body weight disadvantage.
In the third attempt in the jerk, Charniak hoisted 191kg to
approach the gold medal. The 20-year-old Su was the last one to
lift and he threw away the pressure, claiming the gold with 192kg,
one kilogram more than Charniak's.
Mahmoud Fisal of Egypt got the bronze at 335kg.
"It was an unforgettable experience for me and made me more
tough in the competition," Su said.
"I had never expected I could overcome Charniak. He is also very
excellent and I think I should train harder."
"Dajin was quite strong-minded today. I think he learned a lot
from the competition which will help him in the future," Su's coach
Chen Wenbin said.
