Shandong Luneng's star striker Li Jinyu has increased the
seasonal goal record of China's top soccer league to 22, scoring a
header during Shandong's 2-0 win over Xi'an Chanba in the 23rd
round of China Super League Wednesday.
The previous record of 21 goals was set by Serbian Branco Jelic
of Beijing Hyundai in 2005.
Li turned a corner into the goal just seven minutes into the
game. His club and national teammate Zheng Zhi also scored in the
38th minute, sealing Xi'an's fate and extending Shandong's winning
streak to 10 matches.
Shandong Luneng will win the league if they can defeat Beijing
Guo'an in the next round.
Defending champion Dalian Shide beat Wuhan Guanggu 1:0 with
defender Zhang Yaokun's header while two goals from Yang Xu earned
Liaoning Zhongyu 1 point from Shenzhen in a 2:2 draw.
The current CSL number three Shanghai Shenhua tied with number
six Tianjin Teda 1:1.
In relegation battles, Shenyang Jinde drew 1:1 to Chongqing
Lifan and Qingdao Zhongneng got nothing at home, losing to Xiamen
Lanshi 1:0.
