The winning team at the FIFA Club World Cup in December will
receive US$4.5 million, the same as in 2005, Japanese media
reported Saturday, citing the Japan Football Association.
A total of 15 million dollars in prize money will be on offer
for the six teams involved in the Dec.10-17 tournament in Japan.
The competition pits the champions from six regional
confederations, with Asia and Africa still to be decided.
This year, the tournament will open at Toyota Stadium in Aichi
Prefecture and the final will be played at Nissan Stadium in
Yokohama.
Meanwhile in Zurich, Switzerland, FIFA on Friday officially
approved Japan as host of Club World Cup for a third straight year
in 2007.
