Chinese number one Li Na failed to make semi-finals following a
full-sets loss to Russia's world number five Kuznetsova at the
China Open WTA tournament on Friday.
Seven-seeded Li, who upset Kuznetsova at the third round of
Wimbledon this season, did not keep the morale displayed in the
second set before a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 defeat.
Both of the players held serve firmly, with only five break
points during the whole match, two registered for Li and three for
Kuznetsova.
And it was a close match, where the Russian scored 94 out of 179
points and Li belted 85, only nine points adrift.
In an earlier quarter-final, China's wild card Peng Shuai has
reached last four after beating Japanese Ai Sugiyama.
