The university now is becoming a comprehensive university with geology, geological engineering technology, resource and environment concentrations. But the school finds it hard to attract attention because those majors are unpopular.To satisfy the needs of large-scale economic construction of China, Beijing College of Geology was founded in 1952. In 1987, CUG was established as a result of a merger of Wuhan College of Geology and its Beijing-based graduate school.


Tuition:4,500 – 10,000 yuan per year

Notable alumni:

Wen Jiabao, Premier of China;

Wang Hongzhen, renowned academician;

Zhao Pengda, renowned geologist
