China Institute of International Studies (CIIS) is a think tank of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It conducts research and analysis on a wide range of foreign policy issues. The institute was founded in 1956 with its original name of Institute of International Relations, and was renamed in December 1986. Their studies focus primarily on medium and long-term strategic research, particularly those concerning international politics and the world economy. It also includes comments and policy recommendations on the world's major events and hot spot issues. Till now, CIIS has seven institutes, such as American Studies, Asia-Pacific Security and Cooperation, EU Studies and Developing Countries Studies, and consists of nearly 100 researchers and professors.
