Established in February 1995, BYD is a key private hi-tech enterprise in China specializing in IT, automobile and new energy, with integrated research, development, manufacturing and sales. The company was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in July 2002.
BYD's employees and industrial parks have increased drastically. BYD has developed from a staff of 20 in 1995 to more than 150,000 in 2009, with 10 industrial parks across China, including sites in Guangdong, Beijing, Shaanxi, Shanghai and Changsha. It also has offices in Taiwan, Hong Kong and foreign countries including the United States, Europe, Japan, South Korea and India.
