As the nation is still abuzz with the possibility of raising the retirement age in face of an aging population, investment-savvy corporate executives have already started early preparations for safe and comfortable retirement.
The Chinese edition of Fortune magazine has been publishing an annual list of the best Chinese cities to retire ever since 2010 to meet surging demand for such information from its elite readership.
In this year's survey, the magazine collected 1,150 valid questionnaires from senior executives. Respondents were asked to grade a city in the following aspects: quality of life, social welfare, harmony between urban and the natural landscape, cultural atmosphere, service provision, healthcare and housing for retirees, and sense of happiness.
In addition, out of the 1,150 respondents, 61.7 percent compared to 54.1 percent last year said they had plans to spend their life in anther country upon retirement, with Australia, Canada and New Zealand their top destinations.
