Areas: Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Bahamas, U.S. East Coast, Southern Quebec, Atlantic Canada

Fatalities: 364 at least

Damage: US$900 million (1960 USD)

Starting out as a tropical disturbance, Hurricane Donna keeps the record for retaining major hurricane status (Category 3 or greater on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale) across the Atlantic Basin for the longest period of time. From September 2 to 11, it continuously showed winds blowing at least 115 mph (185 km/h).
