Super Typhoon Nina, formed on July 30, 1975 and dissipated on August 6, was a short-lived but intense super typhoon in the Pacific Ocean. It caused catastrophic damages and cost numerous Chinese lives after causing the Banqiao Dam in Henan Province to collapse. With its strongest winds of 50 km/h, Nina took at least 26,000 lives, making it the second-deadliest Pacific typhoon in history-only after the 1881 Haiphong Typhoon in Vietnam.
