Top 10 richest Chinese 2013: Hurun

The latest Hurun Global Rich List reveals that 1,453 people worldwide have a personal wealth of US$1 billion or more as of January 17, including 357 Chinese.

The U.S. and China share half of the world’s billionaires, according to the China-based wealth magazine.

Chinese billionaires have an average age of 58, and are five years younger than the list average, and own an average personal wealth of 16 billion yuan (US$2.57 billion). Of the 357 Chinese billionaires, 13 percent are female, 262 live on the Chinese mainland, 54 in Hong Kong and 32 in Taiwan.

85-year old Li Ka-Shing, chairman of Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. and Cheung Kong Holdings Ltd., was given the title “richest Chinese” with a personal fortune of 200 billion yuan (US$32.1 billion).

Nine of the top 10 richest Chinese have a wealth of US$10 billion or more.

By industry, real estate tycoons dominate the China rich list, followed by manufacturing and investments.
