Berea College was once again America's least expensive private college or university in the 2011-2012 academic year, according to U.S. Department of Education.
Berea College, at which a year's tuition is US$910, was followed by Turtle Mountain Community College and Curtis Institute of Music, which had annual tuitions of US$2,250 and US$2,300, respectively.
The U.S. Department of Education statistics showed that the average tuition at private, four-year colleges or universities was US$22,786 for the 2011-12 academic year, US$15,651 higher than that of public schools and 3.8 percent higher than the average private school tuition during the 2010-11 academic year.
This year's College Affordability and Transparency Lists, published late last month, rank both public and private institutions with the lowest tuitions and net prices, as well as those schools where prices are rising the fastest.
