The Hagia Sophia is a former Orthodox patriarchal basilica before being converted into a mosque. It has been serving as a museum in Istanbul, Turkey, since 1935. The construction features the solemn Byzantine style, displaying 30 million gold tiles throughout its interior. The former basilica now boasts a large collection of holy relics, including a 15 meter high silver iconostasis. It is one of the most visited attractions in Turkey.
