Located in New York City, the most populous city in the United States, Times Square is known as "The Crossroads of the World". It is a must-see attraction in New York, and attracts more than 39 million visitors every year. It boasts a superb collection of excellent shops and restaurants and is also famous for extraordinary Broadway shows. It is the site of the annual New Year's Eve ball drop, which attracts thousands of onlookers. In 2001, the square was listed in the National Register of Historic Places, along with Duffy Statue.
