Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, Virginia
Located in Charlottesville, this is the primary plantation of Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States. Built in 1772, it covers an area of 5,000 acres with extensive cultivation of tobacco and other crops. It also features stunning neoclassical architecture designed by Jefferson. It is a National Historic Landmark and was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, together with the University of Virginia.
