National Gallery of Art, District of Columbia
Located in Washington D.C., the museum, established in 1937, exhibits paintings, drawings, prints, photographs and sculptures from the Middle Ages to the present. Among its highlights is the Italian Renaissance collection, including two panels from Duccio's "Maesta." The works are mainly contributed by famous businessmen and collectors such as Paul Mellon, Ailsa Mellon Bruce and Lessing J. Rosenwald.
