Top 10 worst airports for on-time departures

Eight of the world's top ten worst airports for on-time departures in 2014 were on the Chinese mainland, according to data compiled by U.S.-based FlightStats, a leading flight tracking and airport information service provider.

The data show that of the 61 largest airports in the world, Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport were the top three worst performers in terms of flights departing on time.

The percentage of flights leaving on time from Xiaoshan, Hongqiao and Pudong, the bottom three airports on the overall list, was only 36.74 percent, 37.17 percent and 37.26 percent respectively.

In contrast, Japan's Haneda Airport, Denmark's Copenhagen Airport and Norway's Oslo Gardemoen Airport were the best three performers for on-time departures in 2014.

In total, 89.76 percent of flights left on time from Haneda, 87.05 percent from Copenhagen, and 86.21 percent from Oslo.
