South Korean tech giant Samsung sold a total of 82. 8 million smartphones in the first quarter of 2015, ranking first in the world among all smartphone makers by unit sales in the world, according to data posted by mobile expert Tomi T Ahonen on Communities Dominate Brands, a market analysis website.
Samsung's sales accounted for 24.3 percent of the global market share. Worldwide, a total of 340.8 million units were sold.
Seven of the world's top ten biggest smartphone sellers are from China, with Vivo edging its way into the top ten for the first time.
The top ten smartphone makers sold a combined volume of 243.7 million units in the first quarter of 2015, accounting for 71.5 percent of the global market.
