 Deng Tong

Deng Tong was a minion of Emperor Wen of Han (202–157 B.C.). He was good at ingratiating himself with the emperor. Due to his close relationship with the emperor, Deng monopolized the coin casting industry and became a super-rich man. However, after Emperor Wen died and Emperor Jing ascended to the throne, all of Deng's property was seized. Deng ended up starving to death.
