As one of Macao's best-known landmarks, the Ruins of St. Paul's are a blend of Renaissance and Oriental architecture. This Baroque site is carved with peony and chrysanthemum patterns which represents Chinese and Japanese elements. The church was originally built from 1602 to 1640, but was burned down in 1835, leaving a stone façade standing on the top of a hill as a witness to the ups and downs of Macao.
