Liu came to fame for her portrayal of the vicious Ling Woo in David E. Kelley's TV series hit "Ally McBeal" in 1998. She then impressed in several Hollywood films, including "Payback" (1999), "Charlie's Angels" (2000), "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" (2003), and Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill: Vol. 1" (2003). She also offered her voice to Master Viper in DreamWorks Animation's "Kung Fu Panda".
Liu is best-known for her role of Alex Munday in the blockbuster "Charlie's Angels", which won the 2001 MTV Movie Award for Best On-Screen Duo. She also won the 2004 MTV Movie Award for Best Villain and Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress nomination for her outstanding performance in "Kill Bill Vol. 1".
Liu played the police officer Jessica Tang in the fourth season of the critically-acclaimed TV series "Southland" which premiered in January 2012. She received the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Drama Guest Actress for this role.
