Deeply concealed in the Great Khingan mountain ranges of northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Moerdaoga is a small village unspoiled by the outside world.

The nomad village earned its name from an unplanned visit by Genghis Khan, the Mongolian conqueror who was then on his way to vanquish the barbarian tribes scattered across Mongolian land.

It was said that while on a hunting expedition, Genghis Khan, inspired by the spectacular view of the breaking dawn, stopped at the peak of the mountain surrounding the village and shouted out his wish of integrate the tribes--"Moerdaoga," which means "set out for the battle on your horses" in Mongolian.

Genghis Khan may have faded into history along with his legendary battles, but the tranquil village still amazes numerous tourists and geographers with its pristine scenery and traditional lifestyle.
