Boatmen ride boats while singing work songs on the Youshui River in Baojing County, central China's Hunan Province, Oct. 15, 2011. Boatman used to be a major profession several decades ago on the Youshui River in Hunan. The boatmen transported goods by riding and towing boats while singing work songs. Nowadays, the profession has disappeared since the building of a hydropower station on the river. But after the Youshui boatmen's work songs became one of the national intangible cultural heritages in 2008, the boatmen, most of them now aged, were able to return to the Youshui River to perform their former job for tourists.
