Retrospect of the Ming Dynasty: Experiencing the Period of Wan Li

The Emperor Wan Li was the longest-reigning monarch of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), an era considered by some historians to have been one of the most prosperous in human history. The exhibition tackles the conundrum of Wan Li head-on in a thought-provoking examination of both the emperor and his era. It includes more than 200 objects from the collections of Capital Museum and Dingling Museum (Wan Li’s tomb), accompanied by extensive historical background material (some of it in English). Divided into three sections, it starts by considering Wan Li’s decades-long suspension of his own audiences. [China.org.cn/ Ruby]
