Kandovan village, located in Iran's East Azerbaijan Province, is quaint and mysterious.

What makes Kandovan village so unique is due to cave or troglodyte dwellings. Some of its houses are at least 700 years old and are still inhabited. Many of them are made in caves located in cone-shaped, naturally formed compressed volcanic ash formations, which make the landscape of the whole village look like a gigantic termite colony.[Agencies]
