SYRIA-DAMASCUS-SHAHBANDAR PALACE-TOURISM

Photo taken on May 11, 2013 shows the courtyard at the Shahbandar Palace hotel in Damascus, Syria. Originally built in the 17th century as a family-owned house, the hotel in 2007 has painstakingly been restored to its former glory. However, the two-year crisis in Syria has traumatized its tourism, leading to a sharp decrease in the number of the hotel guests. (Xinhua/Zhang Naijie)
