Photo taken on May 29, 2013 shows the interior of the Monastery of Batalha in Batalha, central Portugal. The Monastery of Batalha is one of the best and original examples of Late Gothic architecture in Portugal, intermingled with the Manueline style. It was built to commemorate the victory of the Portuguese over the Castilians at the battle of Aljubarrota in 1385. The Monastery of Alcobaca was listed by the UNESCO as a world heritage site in 1983. (Xinhua/Zhang Liyun) |
