All 86 tourists evacuated from Mount Qomolangma

Soldiers try to dig out a stranded car from the heavy snow on a road leading to the Mount Qomolangma (Mount Everest) base camp, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, Oct. 14, 2013. A total of 78 tourists were stranded on Monday in heavy snow at the base camp of Mount Qomolangma (Mount Everest), including 13 foreigners, local authorities said. As of 5 p.m., another eight people had left Rongbuk, the world's highest monastery at an altitude of 5,100 meters, for the nearby county seat of Tingri, said a spokesman with the tourism bureau of Xigaze prefecture.
