Buddhist mantra the Sutra of Six Truest Words is written with sands on the icy surface of Tongtian River in Yushu Tibetan autonomous prefecture, northwest China’s Qinghai province on Jan. 20, 2014, in order to pray for a prosperous year. People first inscribed the Sutra of Six Truest Words on the frozen river and then spread sands to fill all the letters. In spring when the ice melts, the sands, after falling to the bottom of the river, will retain the shape of the characters. (Photo/CNS )
