The photo, taken on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, shows the Sacrifice Pagoda in Beichuan, southwest China's Sichuan Province. The Qiang people believe that everything in this world is governed by gods. Small stone pagodas are built in each village, with the white stones symbolizing the gods of the heaven and mountains are placed on top of these pagodas. Grand sacrificial rituals will be held in front of the pagoda annually to honor the gods and pray for favorable weather and a peaceful life. The sacrifice pagoda built in the new Beichuan County expresses the Qiang people's custom of respecting nature. (CRIENGLISH.com/Liu Yuanhui)
