Beijing's magnolias have already fluttered to the ground, but there's still a potpourri of colorful flowers to be seen across the city. The Beijing Botanical Gardens offer a wide variety of blossoms to sniff, whiff and admire.
The park is brimming with photo enthusiasts and visitors who come fully prepared to pose in front of a blooming backdrop; their own personal photo studio.
One photographer, surnamed Yu, was lugging around a backpack full of camera lenses and equipment, more focused on colorful petals than models. "All flowers are beautiful," he opined, before disclosing a personal preference for primroses and magnolias. "Any flower can look good in photos."
Lao Du was busy watering the flowers as her workmates planted fresh seedlings into the ground. "I don't get tired watering the flowers here," she smiled. "The air is fresh here in the garden, with many flowers. It's healthy for both the old and the young." Lao Du believes that the upcoming May Day holiday will be the best time to take in the flowers at the Botanical Gardens.
The park's spring bloom will continue on into summer, thanks to Lao Du and her coworkers. Over 500 species of flowers grow in the park, though not all are visible at any given time. Many species are held inside of the exhibition greenhouse.
