Wujiaqu is not an urban center of Xinjiang. Its main industry is agriculture. However, with the advancement in technology, farmers are able to do their work more efficiently and yield higher output than ever before. We visited a model farm and learned about a modern irrigation method called the drip irrigation system, which saves water and fertilizer by allowing water to drip slowly to the roots of plants, either onto the soil surface or directly to the root zone, through a networks of valves, pipes, tubing and emitters.
