The repair work of the golden roofs (altogether 3743 square meters) of Jokhang, the most sacred and important temple for Tibetans in Tibet, ended recently. Tibetan local government, Lhasa municipal government and the temple itself have invested more than 44 million yuan into the maintenance project. This is the largest maintenance work of the golden roof of the temple in its history. The temple has a history of 1,350 years, worshipping a life-size statue of 12-year-old Shakyamuni.
