Editor's note:The Xilin Gol grassland is located in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Covering an area of roughly 1.07million hectares, it was established in 1985 and has been under state-level protection since 1997. The area is well-known for its rich wildlife, plant life and beautiful landscapes. Scenes of "golden autumn" are especially magnificent in September and October when vast areas of grasslands turn golden yellow, flowers compete with one another, each more beautiful and alluring than the last, while streams flow gently in their courses at the foot of the mountains. The picturesque scenery is so enchanting that travelers can't bear to take themselves away from it.
