The Twin Pagoda Temple, officially known as the Yongzuo Temple, is a temple containing two pagodas dating from the Ming Dynasty. The two well-preserved pagodas – the Wenfeng Pagoda and the Xuanwen Pagoda – have a history of over 400 years. They are both eight-cornered, and their roofs are covered in emerald green-glazed tiles. At over 54 meters high, the pagodas are the tallest existing ancient structures in Taiyuan. They have been dubbed the cultural symbol of the city. [China.org.cn/Photo by Liu Shaomin]
