The Yangguan Pass in Dunhuang, also known as the Southern Pass, was originally built by Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty as one of the two most important passes protecting the country. It was a choke-point on the ancient Silk Road. The magnificent view of starry sky against gobi desert has attracted millions of tourists. (Chinanews/Wang Binyin)
