A plant blossoms at the Turpan Eremophytes Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Turpan City, Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Located at altitudes from 105 m to 76 m below sea level, it is known as the lowest botanical garden on earth. Various arid desert plants have been collected at the gardens, which play a role in the conservation of the plants. More than 700 species of eremophytes are found in the gardens, the largest collection in central Asia. (Photo: China News Service/Sun Tingwen)
