The Jiumenkou Great Wall is the only section of the Great Wall that runs over water. Its construction dates from the Northern Qi Dynasty (550-577), and it was further expanded in 1381 during the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Located in Suizhong County of Huludao City, the Jiumenkou Great Wall extends 1,704 meters from north to south and the Jiujiang River runs beneath it. It is an important pass of the Great Wall and is nicknamed the "first pass east to Beijing". Thanks to its perfect combination of nature and history, it was listed as part of the world cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2002. [China.org.cn]
